Mini Theater Reviews
Black Swan (2026)
David Malloy's latest musical. I was in Cambridge, MA and caught this on opening night. It was great -- unreal choreography and amazing staging/effects. Dave Malloy's lyrics/score were tight (no wasted space) and carried the flow of the story. I caught sight of Dave Malloy milling around the theater and saw where he was sitting in the audience, which was pretty cool.
The Lost Boys (2026)
Musical. Saw it during previews (period of time when they are still making some changes, like polishing it up, before "opening" for its full run). It was a good show, I rate 7/10 (on a very rough scale). It's heavily rock-inspired (regarding type of music) which is really fun to see in a show. It's based on the movie, which I watched months ago when they first started advertising the musical (really liked the movie - tbh liked the movie more strongly than I liked the musical, but that's often how it goes for adaptations). I'd call it a fun show, but not as "serious" of a show as what really gets me going in theatre.
